The Marine Forces Special Operations Comand known as MARSOC, There mission is to recruit, train, sustain, and deploy scalable, expeditionary forces worldwide for Special operations. MARSOC's creation was announced to the public on the first of November 2005 by U.S. Secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld. The Marine Corps did not want to have a Special Operations Group, but after the September 11 attacks and the Global war on Terrorism, The Marine Corps intergrated with SOCOM to establish MARSOC. It was mainly made up of Marines from the 1st and 2nd Force Reconnaissance Battalions, along with handpicked men that worked with Navy SEALs under the NSW group one. The engagements that MARSOC has been involved with is the War on terror, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Juniper Shield, Operation Pacific Eagle - The Philippines, Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The Motto of MARSOC is Spiritus Invictus. MARSOC is made up of 3 Groups, The Marine Raider Regiment, The Marine Raider Support Group, and The Marine Raider Training Center.
